lüll PKB binding proteins Getting in on the Akt Brazil DP; Park J; Hemmings BACell 2002[Nov]; 111 (3): 293-303Protein kinase B (PKB) has emerged as the focal point for many signal transduction pathways, regulating multiple cellular processes such as glucose metabolism, transcription, apoptosis, cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and cell motility. In addition to acting as a kinase toward many substrates involved in these processes, PKB forms complexes with other proteins that are not substrates, but rather act as modulators of PKB activity and function. In this review, we discuss the implications of these data in understanding the multitude of functions predicted for PKB in cells.|*Muscle Proteins[MESH]|*Nuclear Proteins[MESH]|*Protein Serine-Threonine Kinases[MESH]|Animals[MESH]|Binding Sites[MESH]|Glucose Transporter Type 4[MESH]|Heat-Shock Proteins/metabolism[MESH]|Ligands[MESH]|Monosaccharide Transport Proteins/metabolism[MESH]|Phosphorylation[MESH]|Proto-Oncogene Proteins c-akt[MESH]|Proto-Oncogene Proteins c-mdm2[MESH]|Proto-Oncogene Proteins/*metabolism[MESH]|Repressor Proteins/metabolism[MESH]|Tuberous Sclerosis Complex 2 Protein[MESH]|Tumor Suppressor Protein p53/metabolism[MESH]|Tumor Suppressor Proteins[MESH] |
