From Hodgkin disease to Hodgkin lymphoma: biologic insights and therapeutic potential Re D; Thomas RK; Behringer K; Diehl VBlood 2005[Jun]; 105 (12): 4553-60Reclassification of Hodgkin disease as Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) represents a milestone in the lymphoma field, awarding recent insights in the molecular biology of Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg (H-RS) cells and their environment. This review summarizes antiapoptotic and proproliferative pathways involved in the pathogenesis of this disease with the ultimate goal of translating laboratory knowledge into clinical decision making. The focus is on potential targets and novel drugs, which are discussed in the context of the complex biology of HL.
